Icerberg Lettuce

Iceberg lettuce, which comes from the United States, belongs to a form close to Botanical lettuce and is distinguished by its hard and brittle leaf. It owes its name to the transport method used in the United States in the 30s, when train wagons filled with crates of this lettuce were covered with crushed ice to preserve its freshness. The main producing European countries are Spain, the Netherlands and Italy.
